At 86, Tokyo-based artist Keiichi Tanaami continues to captivate with his bold use of color, layered imagery, and a sharp fusion of American and Japanese pop culture—reflecting both the frenetic pace of modern life and a yearning for inner peace.
“Light inspires me,” Tanaami says. “I often dream of whirling light enveloping me—it feels wonderful. The surfboard, with its graceful curve, became a dreamy canvas. It’s a wonder how my work looks even better on it.”
The presestation took place at the Edition Hotel in Miami Beach.
